| Goofing around on my last night of being one. |
 |
| Reflecting on the coming birthday |
 |
| Let met think on this... |
 |
| I think I'm gonna like it! |
 |
| Always the ham |
 |
| Two can't be so bad, can it? |
 |
| Our birthday girl |
 |
| Two feels good! |
 |
| Just adorable me |
 |
| Now that I'm two I'm expected to help around the house |
 |
| I'm TWO! |
 |
| Yes TWO! |
 |
| Oh My! How did that happen?? |
 |
| My sister at two, in the same outfit! |
As of today, I no longer have a one year old in my home. I have a three year old and a two year old and this fact makes this Mama sad. You see, you can still get by with calling a one year old (even one that is very close to two) a baby…but at two that just seems to stop. At two, you have a toddler…facing the fact that my “baby” is now two is hard! I love having a baby in the house! We will probably NOT have another baby in our home after this and it makes me a sad Mama. I know, every parent faces this…but it doesn’t make it any easier when it is my turn to let go of my “baby”.
Sienna, you blossom more and more every day. You like the word “DO” very much! When putting on your shoes you want to “DO!”, when eating soup with a spoon you want to “DO!”, getting ready for school, putting on socks, combing hair, putting on a coat, all are met with your very vocal “DO, DO, DO!”. I know it’s good for you to be independent, you’re learning so much. You can zip your own coat, put on your own shoes, you can unwrap your candy Rolo in record time, and deposit the wrapper in the correct side of the recycle/trash can.
Lately you reach for EVERYTHING on the counter, medicine, scissors, mail. Just when we had your sister trained to leave things alone suddenly we turn around and see you with a big pair of scissors “scissoring” back and forth while you gleefully say “cut, cut”. We forget that you have the reach of a 7 foot college basketball player and once again half of our counter space goes unused because you can reach anything.
You have definite favorites at this age. Several pairs of brand new shoes in your closet will go unworn because they do not meet with your favor. Even though you love a certain food, if you decide today you will not eat it, it will go uneaten. You do NOT like to get dressed. Every morning I hear daddy struggling with a very strong little girl shouting “no dress, NO DRESS!” You are very attached to your Santa Claus footie pajamas (that you WOULDN’T wear at Christmas time by the way).
You have amazing strength. If you grasp something and decide it will be yours, it takes your Mama and your Daddy both to “convince” you to part with it. Your smile reaches your eyes and brightens the room. Your dimples make it almost impossible to say no to you. Your cries when you are unhappy that something has not gone your way are loud and long and you are sure to let us know your feelings.
Your favorite foods right now are spaghetti, grilled cheese sandwiches, noodles, clementines (which you call “apples) and bologna…despite our efforts to encourage green beans, corn, or otherwise healthy selections you steadfastly refuse them.
You love your stuffed Elmo doll, driving toy cars with a hearty “zoom zoom”, playing “caterpillar” with your sister, taking ANYTHING that belongs to your sister, reading books, doing puzzles and especially snuggling with Daddy at bedtime (you’ve figured out he’s a softie and with tear filled big brown eyes you can convince him to do almost anything for you).
You love to dance, and you can really groove! Music in restaurants and stores is often just additional clutter to me but you hear it, smile, and start moving with glee. You sit in your chair and wriggle all over in your total-body “happy dance”, you embrace life and all that comes with it - we love that about you!
You are an EARLY riser, nearly every morning before there is a number 6 on the clock we can hear your chants of “Mama, Daddy… JUICE!” When we walk in your room to get you we are greeted with your million-watt smile and are reminded again, that these way to early wakings are totally worth it just for one of your smiles.
Every day we are awed by the amazing series of events that God perfectly orchestrated so that we would know, beyond even the smallest doubt that you were meant to be a part of and we are grateful and blessed that God has allowed us to be your parents.
Sienna Grace, you have taught us every day with your perseverance, inner strength, grace and beauty! You are loved beyond measure and we are honored to celebrate you being two!
As one of your favorite Veggie Tales books says, “You can do anything you want to do, God made amazing and wonderful you”!
Love, Mama, Daddy and Big Sister Danika!

Oh Karen, what a beautiful post for your BEAUTIFUL daughter!
How the time has flown! (OMGosh, I love the pic of Danika, as well! What an adorable expression!) This time last year, you were working your way through the 1-800 process to hold this very baby (and face it, Sienna will ALWAYS be your baby ;)) and now you can't remember life without her, I bet!
Every good and perfect gift is from above...and boy oh boy have you and Dan been perfectly gifted with your two precious daughters.
Happy Birthday, sweet Sienna Grace!
With Love and Prayers,
Ame
Happy Birthday Sienna! What a great post. That's funny- Zeke calls almost all fruit apples too.
What awesome testament your post is to your beautiful Daughter on her 2nd birthday and to the wonderful family she is part of.
Love, Hugs and always - prayers for continued blessing!

Happy birthday "baby" girl! I agree, two is a diffcult number... to go from baby to toddler. Our little butterfly is almost there herself and I also don't want her to be. I love your description of the millions watt smile. Don't those smiels just make your day! Enjoy your beautiful girls.
