We’ve had two more Christmas celebrations with Karen’s family. Danika definitely loves opening presents! We had a great time with Karen’s parents and brother who visited Christmas weekend. Danika has turned into a Grandma’s girl! She loved standing on Grandma B’s feet and getting horsey rides or walking on Grandma’s feet. She also liked feeding Grandma…food from the floor, food Danika already had in her mouth, any thing is fun to feed Grandma! She continues to love patty cake with Grandpa B.
We think she’s hit overkill with toys for now and are safely storing away some of her treasures to get out later in the year when she’s bored and needs something new to play with! Some new things Danika does:
Danika now “smacks” when she kisses instead of licks your face, and she loves to play with babies (real ones). She is very gentle with babies and loves to softly pat their heads and kiss them.
Every time she does something right (for example taking something out of the trash can and then putting it back in, or touching the remote and then removing her hand) she turns to us so we can give her the “good girl” applause and lots of praise.
She loves to chase her daddy and have him chase after her and be tickled. Dan will tickle her foot and she’ll squeal and run away and then a minute later she’s right back in front of him sticking out her foot so he’ll do it again.
She can now “roll them” and “prick them” and “mark them” when she plays patty cake.
She can turn on and off her musical lighted car seat mirror with the remote, with her hands or her feet!
She can drink out of a straw and greatly prefers this to a sippy cup.
She loves to play with bubbles in the sink, or in the tub or on the floor. She has consumed a great deal of soapy water in the past few days.
She loves to follow mommy around the house and “clean” with a tissue…unfortunately often using a tissue she also intermittently blows her nose in.
We are amazed at how much she comprehends and understands, we can say a complete sentence to her and she will undertand and respond appropriately.
She loves oranges, bananas, and turkey hot dogs and consumes all in large quantities.
Danika continues to be such a joy, she recently finished a round of antibiotics for a nasty cold and is now her same cheerful, upbeat and active self!
We sure love our spicy Sichuan girl!
